Neurolytic alcohol blockade and radiofrequency thermocoagulation of the trigeminal nerve are widely used in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia patients. Two patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia in the area of two divisions were treated with concurrent neurolysis of two terminal branches using alcohol or radiofrequency thermocoagulation. After the procedures, the pain relief durations of each patient were 14 months and 23 months, respectively, with no serious complications. Concurrent neurolysis can be an effective and safe treatment for trigeminal neuralgia involved in the area of two divisions before chemical neurolysis or radiofrequency thermocoagulation of trigeminal rootlets, and it may save time and money.
